WHAT IS HOLISTIC

PERFORMANCE COACHING?

Private mentorship or coaching specifically for actors, musicians, dancers and performers. In the sessions I use an abundance of healing modalities to ensure that the artist is living a nourishing life so that they can thrive when they hit the stage or studio. For when we are wholly nourished it allows us to show up fully for the art.

THE HOLISTIC PERFORMER

Being a holistic performer means being a conscious performer. It doesn’t mean being religiously “healthy” and “well” it just means that there is an acknowledgement of the interaction of art and wellness practise. There is an awareness that nurturing self actually enhances performance. There is an old world view that actual pain should be pursued in order to communicate pain. As a holistic performer one realises when that Avenue is appropriate. By which I mean, to purge it may be a worthwhile endeavour. It may be beautiful. Honest. Vulnerable.


But it does not need chasing, as the performer who created a supportive nest for self is also able to “play” a part effectively and safely.

The holistic performer is attuned enough to know the right path for embarking.

We don’t just owe it to ourselves. We owe it to others. In order to connect to other stories we need a sense of vulnerability but in order to uplift and share the stories of others we must hold a certain strength. Holistic performers recognise and explore willingly the generous offerings of healing modalities in order to enhance self, art and to support the world around them.

MY EXPERTISE & TRAINING


I am a multi disciplinary performer, meaning in this sense I am an actress who also happens to be a theatre maker, songstress, poet, director, designer, artist, costumer and student of life. I run my own production company "Wild Tongues" through which I am constantly collaborating and creating experiential and experimental eco feminist projects and new work.


I have a BA (theatre) as well as a BMUS (contemporary voice) and 2 certificates in Acting (screen). I am a qualified yoga teacher, with expertise as a trainer in a number of athletic fields: working as a surf instructor, ocean swim coach and beach running (sprinting and 1km run) specialist.


Growing up I had the sports scholarship at school and would engage with every and any sport offered my way: athletics, cross country, volleyball, surfing, gymnastics, swimming, football, hockey, softball to name a few. I also have experience in dance, engaging in full time training at THE SPACE.


I have always loved movement, activity and playfulness and I always try to bring these aspects into my work and my coaching style. My practise is  also heavily influenced by my mum who is a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, okido yoga teacher, acupuncturist, shiatsu therapist, aromatherpist and all around incredible woman.
